Critical materials in Switzerland |
Thank you for participating in the survey "Critical materials in Switzerland"
Dear Sir/Madam,
We like to invite you to participate in a survey intending to get knowledge on the industrial requests for support and expertise in the field of critical elements. This questionnaire is partially based on a survey which was undertaken by TNO and M2i, in cooperation with the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) for the ‘Critical materials in the Netherlands’ project. The Foundation of Rare Elements (Stiftung Entwicklungsfonds Seltene Metalle, ESM) and MatSearch Consulting Hofmann have adapted this questionnaire for the technological industry in Switzerland.
ESM is a foundation which was created in 1951 in Switzerland and which aims to translate academic research into appropriate industrial use or products. Similar to our colleagues in The Netherlands, ESM and MatSearch would like to gain a better insight into the reaction of Swiss companies regarding the material criticality, a topic which came up the last 5 years especially because of the strongly increased use of Rare Metals for the communication industry and products used in green energy applications. The European Union has carried out two studies on critical materials and defined twenty critical raw materials from the list of fifty-four candidate materials. Critical raw materials have a high economic importance to the European countries and their industry combined with a high risk associated with their supply. The questionnaire is divided into five main topics:
