MERICS China Forecast 2026

Thank you for taking the time to complete our “MERICS China Forecast 2026” survey.

The aim of the survey is to learn more about upcoming trends in China’s trajectory and predict potential opportunities and challenges in Europe’s relations with China over the next 12 months.

For the seventh year running, we are asking China experts from government institutions, civil society, industry, and research institutions as well as members of the wider public to complete the survey.

We will host the 2026 edition of our annual MERICS China Forecast event on 26 November 2025 at the European China Conference in Berlin, where we will present the results of the survey. The aggregated survey results will be published on our website and will feed into MERICS publications and discussions for the upcoming year.

The questions are divided into two sections:

1. China's political, economic and technological development
2. China’s foreign policy and EU-China relations

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We guarantee participant’s anonymity and confidentiality.
