Precautionary Allergen Labelling for Novel Food and alternative proteins
Introduction
The EU-funded research project Giant Leaps focuses, among other things, on the preferences of consumers with allergies regarding the labelling of so-called ‘novel foods’, i.e. novel foodstuffs such as insects or mung bean protein.
DAAB is conducting an international online survey in cooperation with the University of Surrey to examine the implementation of current regulations from your perspective as patients with allergies or parents of affected children, focusing on their clarity and practicality. We also wish to assess the impact that the current ‘allergen warnings’ on novel foods have on your food choices.
Furthermore, we would like to get your opinion on how future new proteins – some of which are already in use internationally – could be labelled in the EU.
We would be very grateful if you could take a few minutes to answer the questionnaire completely. The results will be sent to national and international authorities, such as EFSA – the European authority that issues recommendations for the implementation of labelling.
Your voice therefore plays a direct role in ensuring that the wishes and opinions of consumers with allergies are heard and can be implemented in your best interests.
Before you can begin the survey, please take a moment to read the detailed information about the study on the following page. Once you have given your consent to participate, you can begin.
Thank you very much for taking part!
