Violations of Artistic Freedom in Austria

Racist attacks, silencing on social media, or difficulties to obtain a residence permit, are threats to artistic freedom, especially in the pandemic situation. Documenting restrictions helps to keep spaces for art and culture open, anti-discriminatory and inclusive.

The survey of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO aims to collect data on the existing restrictions. The survey is based on the ARJ Austria Monitoring Instrument.

The survey is aimed at arts and culture professionals, organizations, initiatives and is open until the "Glänzender Aktionstag der Vielen" on May 8, 2021. Duration of the survey: approx. 5 minutes

The collected data will be anonymously incorporated into an evaluation by the Austrian Commission for UNESCO. The collection of data is intended to form an initial basis for better mapping and analyzing the status of artistic freedom in Austria.
