DSS & Tool Review

Decision Support Systems & Tools for forestry adaptation & mitigation in a changing climate

The following questions concern a system or tool that you have used for forestry or woodland management activity (e.g. planning, operations, management) and which takes account of climate change. Decision Support Tools or Decision Support Systems (DSS) are software with a database system, modelling and decision system and user interface, typically computer-based. They include simulation models, techniques and methods developed to support decision analysis and participatory processes. We are interested in your experience of using a DSS/DST so we can make recommendations on their future use and application for forestry.
1.Your name:
2.Please identify ONE Decision Support System or Tool that you have used and that takes account of climate change adaptation or mitigation in your work. Please provide a recognisable title:
3.Please provide a web link:
4.What Biogeographic region does the DSS/Tool apply to?
5.What scale does the DSS / Tool apply to?
6.Please indicate which effects from climate change the DSS /DST is focused upon:
7.Indicate if any adaptation measures are considered:
8.Please indicate mitigation approaches considered by the tool:
9.Does the DSS / Tool support forest adaptation or mitigation to climate change?
10. What are the main strengths of this DSS/DST?
11.What are the main weaknesses of this DSS/DST?
12.What are the main development needs for this DSS/ tool? (i.e. how could it be improved) and are there any plans to do this?
13.LESSONS LEARNED: Is there a key lesson that you'd like share with others who may use this DSS / Tool to increase forest adaptation to the changing climate or help mitigate the negative impacts of climate change?
14.If you are aware of any case studies, please provide a web link of a few words explaining the study here:
