Introduction

The IEA SHC Task 64 / SolarPACES Task IV Solar Process Heat is addressing solar thermal technologies for converting solar radiation into heat and further the intelligent integration of the produced heat into industrial processes. Solar Heat for Industrial processes (SHIP) is one of the key technologies to achieve the set climate goals and the necessary decarbonization of industrial energy systems.

Therefore, the goal of the Task is to help solar technologies be (and also be recognized as) a reliable part of process heat supply systems. These systems are hybrid supply systems and will have to be integrated in the upcoming developments of the digitalization of industrial production systems and their energy demand. Open research questions are the standardization of integration schemes on process level and on supply level and the combination with other efficient heat supply technologies. As a very important aspect, the experiences of numerous solar process heat markets throughout the world will be brought together to enable a market-oriented dissemination of existing and new knowledge. The key objective of this new task is to identify, verify, and promote the technology.

Within a dedicated activity technical and especially economic parameters will be evaluated that have a high relevance for all involved stakeholders along the project development and implementation phase. This includes common parameters as well as innovative ones. The developed survey is addressing this expertise as basis for future work. It is carried out within Subtask E – Guideline to market, led by AEE – Institute for Sustainable Technologies (AEE INTEC) and Fraunhofer ISE. Please note, AEE INTEC will not collect any personal data or specific information on your company. Results will only be published in aggregated form, where it is not possible to trace back to single answers.

If you have any questions or comments regarding this questionnaire or the activities of the Task in general, please contact us by e-mail:
