The Role

We are looking for a talented and passionate leader to run our SRE Observability Team.   The Observability SRE team's mission is to engineer the observability tools that our engineers need to be successful in a highly distributed modern architecture.  We are integrating a unified platform for instrumenting, processing, storing and presenting the state of our systems including metrics, traces, profiles, or call graphs.  This is an exciting opportunity to build a team from the ground up.


  • Build and manage a team of expert SREs focusing on Observability
  • Design and build automation & tooling around all facets of site observability
  • Consolidating existing toolsets and recommending best practices, training, extending tools to provide to more robust capabilities
  • Ensure high availability tool sets independent of production systems
  • Build strong partnerships with other teams within Engineering
  • Coach and mentor other talented engineers


  • 10+ years of software engineering, reliability and/or systems engineering experience
  • 4+ years of successful engineering management experience in a technical operations environment
  • Previous operational responsibility in a highly available, distributed systems environment
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate teams
  • Capable of leading a discussion with upper management
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
